Bee Nesting House - The Hexagon

Bee Nesting House - The Hexagon

Invite pollinators into your garden using this Esschert Design Hexagonal Solitary Bee House with Paper Straws. Many bee species do not live in colonies, roosting alone and using hollowed logs or tree trunks for shelter.

  • This classic, hexagonal pine frame fantastically meets the needs of these bees, as the bevy of paper tubes inside it provides female solitary bees plenty of places to lay eggs.
  • The yellow, painted top section overhangs the tubes, protecting them from the elements, and a keyhole opening on the back makes it simple to place the piece against a wall.
  • For a different effect, place the level surface of the item on a table or in your landscaping, or cluster a few together for geometric interest.
  • This beehouse offers the perfect nesting accommodation for several species.
  • A female bee makes in the cardboard straw, several cells with one egg and a mixture of pollen and nectar to feed the larvae.
  • Hang this beehouse in a sunny spot facing the south.
  • Its natural wood and paper construction creates a wonderful roost which celebrates the outdoors, and the vivid yellow top can attract these pollinators.

TIPS for SUCCESS: Choose a location with full morning sun and within 200 yards of a pollen source, and 50 yards of a mud source.  A water source is also a plus! Maintain your little bee house with these additional tips:  HERE
